OPINION: Why are we casting blame?

Dear Editor,

Some ask why there is need to cast blame on Trump for his handling of this crisis… Because in November you will cast your vote for president. And before you do that, you need to know and believe the facts.

Our president and his Fox News propaganda machine were either:
(a) bold face lying, or
(b) too incompetent to comprehend the dire circumstances playing out in multiple countries months before the US recorded its first fatality.

The medical experts sounded the alarms.

Americans started dying.

Trump said the virus would disappear “like a miracle”.

More Americans died…

Trump continued with his blatant disregard for our country’s safety. Why? Because he feared it would make him look bad. So he said it wasn’t real. His propaganda machine called it a hoax.

Americans continued to die.

The market is crashing? He thought it would make him look bad. So he tried to pretend he could proselytize the country into thinking it was a good idea to start living normally again on Easter.

Ten thousand americans are now dead.

The president recently started sounding an alarm? Great. Everyone is finally getting the facts (mostly).

The number of dead Americans is expected to reach over one hundred thousand.

Ten thousand Americans had to die before Trump conceded he could not lie his way out of a pandemic.

What if the person you love most was one of those ten thousand? Would it have been worth it? By keeping silent, you accepted that death because the president thought it would help him save face.

Think about it… This may have been Trump’s ONE final opportunity to display the qualities we expect of out president:

  • Truthful communication
  • Character
  • Integrity
  • Calm but clear acceptance of a situation out of his direct control.
  • Deference to qualified Heath and Security advisers in said situation
  • The ability to make informed decisions, even if they are not popular with his base.
  • Understanding how his decisions reverberate beyond THIS year and beyond THIS presidency

Has he shown even one of those qualities?

So I ask again…why does “mainstream media” continue to cast blame on Trump as they report the facts of this catastrophic global pandemic?

Because this is our last chance to open people’s eyes to the fact they put their faith (their lives and the lives of their loved ones) into the hands of a man whose every decision is based on how it affects him.

We need you to believe the truth and be ready to vote Trump out of office in November.

Be safe, stay healthy, stay home.

  1. I couldn’t agree more, and commend the author on giving a succinct and measured synopsis of the catastrophe that is still unfolding. It must of been difficult to refrain from using expletives.
