OPINION: We can handle the truth.

A letter to the editor by Laura Beverage of Medford, NJ

The country is still absorbing the shock of both the ending of the Mueller investigation and the subsequent hasty release of a four-page summary by AG Bill Barr (of said investigation’s compilation of some two and a half years’ worth of documentation). While this happens, it is impossible to overstate the obvious: without the entire report’s release, the majority of this country will continue to believe that there is a lot being hidden from them regarding the investigation’s conclusions. The bottom line here is the American taxpayers paid for this work to be done, and we deserve – no, we demand, that the entire report be made public so that every single remaining question and concern can be addressed fully and/or fully laid to rest.

There is a breadth of indictments, guilty pleas, prison sentences already served, or to be served, by many who are, or were under investigation. Given this, nothing less than total transparency will allow our deeply divided country to be of a like mind regarding the investigation’s outcome. It should go without saying that it is not just the right, but the patriotic thing to do, and the sooner this happens, the better. Unlike the movie, “A Few Good Men,” We the People can handle the truth – we just need to hear it.
