A letter to the editor by Geoff Ginter of Pine Beach, NJ

Hard is nothing. Nothing at all. It’s a choice. Impractical is a ridiculous choice. It’s nothing. The power they have is the power to overwhelm the senses and impair the mind to limit the available choices, channeling them to what is easy. For that matter, simple is also just a choice.

So, you want to get rid of guns? A noble pursuit. One might say that’s impractical. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle.

Who cares?

What you’re saying is “That’s too hard. It doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong, too much or not enough. It’s too hard so let’s do something easier. It’ll make me feel better. Stop challenging me.”

Why are children dying? That one question cannot be answered if that is the only question you’re going to ask. Ask, as well:

“Why have wages stagnated these last 40 years while GDP has soared and the top 1% has gobbled up everything it can?”

“Why has a sovereign government, the monopoly issuer of it’s own currency, made it it’s responsibility to lie to the American public that it can ever, let alone currently be, broke? Unable to pay it’s bills. Unable to pay for social spending. Unable to pay, as the Preamble to the US Constitution says, to ‘Promote the general welfare’”

“Why, when Alan Greenspan said, in the 1990’s, that worker desperation and economic uncertainty was good for the economy, did no one understand that they were at war with us? The people? Why didn’t anyone ask what kind of results that might incur?”

“Why are we allowed to sicken and die with a federally funded food system that is so full of processed crap, loaded with addictive sugar, salts, fats, meats, and diary, yet we are told that our own sickness is our own fault?”

“Why is Health Care not considered a human right by own own government when it’s people are screaming that it is?”

Answer all those questions. Then ask:

“Given all that, how can we not explain the madness that takes over and drives people to murder? How can we be so shocked? It’s staring us right in the face!”

Then, on top of all that, throw in the insane ease of which one can purchase firearms designed for nothing more than mass slaughter. Of course guns need to be heavily regulated. But do that and not deal with the rest and you’ll not have solved the real problem.

By the same token, deal with the top part and not the guns and you’ll have failed, as well.

Be exceptional. Do it all! Do it now while we still can. Walk and chew gum at the same time. Don’t settle for less. And don’t let anyone tell you that something is impractical. Convince them otherwise. They’re needed to get the job done. Don’t let their lack of vision and faith deter yours.
