Letter to the editor, by: Heather Larson of Mt. Holly, NJ
The GOP’s new tax plan is nothing but old failed policy. The corporate world will benefit from a tax cut from 35 percent down to 20 percent. We know trickle-down economics hasn’t worked. When major corporations make profits, most of them stick to rewarding the top. When they fail, they are rewarded with golden parachutes and slither away unscathed. There is actually no incentive for them to care about workers. They have money, they don’t need us.
Meanwhile, this plan will take away state and local tax deductions (SALT) and eliminate medical and student loan deductions—thereby hurting hurt middle class and low income families.
We can do better. Most Americans are not fooled by this misled worship of corporations that play dirty then use and throw away workers like they change their underwear. We are tired of it. We aren’t lazy. We are not dumb. But we are tired of getting screwed.
We need something new, not old and failed.
No to this tax plan.
