District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma ruled on March 28th that energy corporation Enable Midstream Partners has six months to permanently remove its natural gas pipeline from underneath Indian lands.
The corporation got permission from less than 10% of the landowners in 2010, and stated that this conforms to Oklahoma law. The judge agreed, but says that Oklahoma law is overruled by federal law, which requires a majority to give permission. Company has therefore been trespassing on the land for more than five years after the original complaint was filed in 2012.
